'Impeach Obama' Protest on Leucadia Blvd. Overpass July 4

About 30-50 protesters are expected at the event, which will take place from 3-5 p.m.

A protest and demonstration calling for the impeachment of President Barack Obama will be held July 4 on the Leucadia Boulevard overpass on the 5 Freeway, event organizers announced Wednesday.

About 30-50 protesters are expected at the event, which will take place from 3-5 p.m. The protest will also likely slow traffic considerably in the area, as was the case in early June when a similar protest in Carlsbad snarled Interstate 5 for about two hours.

The event was posted on Meetup.com.

The demonstration will be "the kick-off day for an effort to organize small groups throughout the nation for such demos during the rest of the summer and beyond," organizer Roger Ogden said.

"The reasons for the demand for removal are violation of his oath of office, abuse of power, trampling of the Constitution, illegal wars, unprecedented surveillance and other attacks on civil liberties, etc.," Ogden continued.

Shortly after the Carlsbad protest, a new activist group called "Overpasses for Obama's Impeachment" sprang up, with promises to hold similar demonstrations throughout the summer.
