17 La Costa Canyon Athletes Earn All-CIF Honors for Spring Sports

Seventeen La Costa Canyon high school athletes were honored last week by being named to All-CIF teams for their various spring sports.

The honorees were highlighted by two Player of the Year winners: Paige Soenksen for Girls Lacrosse, and Natalie Jaynes for Girls Gymnastics.

Casey Rector also won Coach of the Year for the Girls Lacrosse team. 

The Mavericks lacrosse athletes were by far the most honored team, with eight All-CIF winners among the boys and girls teams. In all, there were 16 first-team All-CIF honorees, and one second-team All-CIF honoree. 

Another Encinitas-area athlete, San Dieguito Academy's Marc Vela, a pitcher, was the only Nighthawks athlete to be honored.
