Spots Available for Saturday's 'Santa Cause Pub Crawl'

On Saturday, 52 Santas will go from bar to bar—spreading holiday cheer.

Santa will paint the town red Saturday.

Well, it will be about 52 Santas and they will be taking part in the Santa Cause Pub Crawl to raise money for The Boys and Girls Club of San Dieguito in Encinitas.

The event is now in its second year.

“We just thought that it sounded like a really fun idea to dress up like Santa and spread holiday cheer,” organizer Monika Stout said.

Last year the group raised $1,700 and Stout hopes it raises $2,000 this year. The Santas will sell Mistletoes.

There are openings for about 8 more participants and they should dress up fully as Santa or Mrs. Clause, according to the event’s page on Patch.  The cost to take part is $25.

Event organizers modeled this pub-crawl after some of the bigger Santa-inspired pub-crawls across the nation, like one in Reno that draws more than 3,000 Kris Kringle impersonators, and they are planning to make this an Encinitas tradition.
