Surf Report & Forecast for April 9-10

Clean conditions with waist-high waves but broken lines.

Surprise, surprise—there's plenty of sunshine this morning, which wasn’t exactly called for, just in time for the Encinitas Street Festival. Speaking of which, Patch will have a booth, so stop by and say hi.

Currently, waves are running about 3-feet high with the occasional 4-footer, with clean but short shoulder sections.

Doesn’t look like an epic long-ride kind of day, but considering the strong on-shore winds we’ve had, there’s no room for complaining. Winds this morning are slightly offshore but, alas, typical windy springtime patterns are expected to kick in, with on-shore gusts predicted to reach 15 mph later this afternoon.

Today is pretty much a slack tide day. Low tide peaked about half an hour ago at 8:30 a.m. at 0.5 feet and will fill in to about 3 feet this afternoon and then run slack for several hours.

Sunset tonight: 7:17 p.m. Darkness falls by 8:12 p.m. and moonset occurs past midnight at 12:15 a.m.

For tomorrow, Sunday the 9th, once again, stop by the Patch booth at the street fair. If you're doing dawn patrol, you'll be going out at a draining mid-tide. Windswell and NW and SW energies will dissipate tomorrow but there still should be ridable surf, but as always in spring, it's really dependent on wind as far as how fun and playful the shape will be.

Sunrise tomorrow: 6:26 a.m. with first tide being low at 9:45 a.m. at 0.4 feet.
