The Kooks Café Opens Thursday in Cardiff

It's where Beach City Café used to be.

The ‘Cardiff Kook’ has inspired , an , a , a calendar, a — and now, the popular statue has inspired the name of Cardiff’s newest restaurant.

The Kooks Café is slated to open at 7 a.m. Thursday morning, and at 3 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, it appeared the work crews still had quite a bit on their to-do list. 

The restaurant sits next door to in the space formerly occupied by and though most of the interior looks the same, there have been some updates, including a tile backsplash along one wall and some new art depicting local scenes.

The menu includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner offerings — and yes, some of those dishes are inspired by the ‘Cardiff Kook,’ like the ‘Kook Scramble.’ There’s also smoothies, fresh juices, and an espresso bar.
