Cadette Troop 1201 hosts Pet Food Drive for Rancho Coastal Humane Society

To earn their Silver Award project, Girl
Scout Troop 1201 is collecting food for some furry friends. Katelyn Love,
Brooke & Kara Sagunsky work together to collect pet food and supplies for
Rancho Coastal Humane Society’s Pet Food Bank.
This pet food bank is open to families on fixed incomes, the sick and disabled, working families
that struggle financially, and the homeless. It
is open the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month from 9 to
11 at the Rancho Coastal Humane Society (RCHS)
on Requeza Drive with the primary goal of keeping people together with
their beloved pets.

The girls will kick off the pet food drive this Saturday,
March 15th at the Albertson’s in La Costa 9 – 11am, Vons in La Costa
11:30am – 1:30pm  and the Encinitas
Walmart from 2 – 4pm.
The blue bins labeled with
Rancho Coastal’s logo will continue to reside at these locations and the girl
scout troop will collect the food and take it to RCHS food bank every couple of
weeks.

Special thanks to North
Coast Signs
in Vista, Office Depot in Encinitas for supplying the signage and
flyers as well as Blue Buffalo Dog Food for the first food donation. The girls are
working on final stage of their Silver Award which is to create a sustainable
program to help the community that they live in.
