Lawn grasses are the least “green” plant in California gardens. They take more water, more fertilizer, more upkeep, create more green waste than most other garden plants, and are a major source of water pollution. Learn several methods for ridding or reducing lawns at your home and what to replace them with.

Bye-Bye Grass! is a talk by California native Nan Sterman, a gardening expert, author, garden designer, and speaker who makes gardening accessible for everyone.  Nan has dedicated her life to promoting a green, sustainable approach to gardening.  Nan’s first book, California Gardener’s Guide, Volume II (Cool Springs Press) focuses on a water-wise approach to creating beautiful gardens perfectly suited to California’s warm, dry Mediterranean climate

Nan Sterman’s new television program, A Growing Passion, is about all the ways that San Diego “grows,” from farms and nurseries to native habitats, schoolyards and backyards.  A Growing Passion ‘s starts airing on KPBS in May, 2013.
