Event: Encinitas is "stoked" about the 2012 Encinitas Holiday Parade

Stoked (Adj)- to be in a state of happiness, excitement, anticipation, pride and optimism. Word used often in Southern California by surfers.

This year’s Parade theme is “Stoked for the Holidays” – celebrating the Encinitas surf culture and their enthusiasm for all things surfing and beach related. You’ll surely see plenty of surf styles from the past and present and a lot of entries showing off the many things that make Encinitas such a cool beach town and what got it named as one of National Geographic’s top 20 surf towns in the world in 2012.

Grand Marshal Rick Shea, a member of the first Encinitas City Council, will lead the approximately 100 entries, the thousands of participants on floats and in bands while tens of thousands cheer them on as the 2012 Encinitas Holiday Parade rolls along Coast Highway 101 on Saturday, December 3rd.  Now that’s something to get “stoked” about!  The 5:30 pm, nighttime Parade is preceded by a 5:00 pm treelighting ceremony at the Lumberyard (near Starbucks).
