Gobble gobble! Did you know that John Teten, an Olivenhain framer use to supply Encinitas with the majority of the turkeys for Thanksgiving? In 1928, John received 4 turkey hens and a gobbler as payment for loaning a friend a truck. John quickly decided to become a turkey rancher. Soon he supplied 1000 turkeys a year to the San Dieguito area. Come down to the museum this month to learn the history of the Tetens and make your very own pinecone turkey centerpiece! Don't forget to bring your family to get crafty for this family holiday!
