Garden of Lights 2013
The San Diego Botanic Garden brings your favorite elements of the winter season all to one location. Leave the hustle and bustle of the malls behind and enjoy a relaxing evening strolling through the lighted Garden. The San Diego Botanic Garden is a dazzling winter wonderland filled with over 100,000 sparkling lights illuminating the Garden for a magical holiday experience. Adding to the sparkle is the “Poinsettia Garden,” festively decorated with many varieties of poinsettias.
Live music fills the air nightly from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm. One night there will be the Peace on Earth Christmas Carolers, while another night features lively Mariachis. *A complete lineup will be released in November.
Got Snow? WE DO! It will be snowing at the Garden December 7, 9, 11, 26, and 28. Please bring your own disc or sled (no metal runners please). Weather permitting.
A team of beautiful Blonde Belgian draft horses will provide wagon rides through the lower area of the Garden on December 14, 15, 18 – 23, and 27 - 30.
Santa will greet young and old alike each night from December 7 - 23 from 5:30 pm – 8:30 pm,
in the brightly lit Gazebo, providing a terrific photo opportunity.
Guests can stay warm at the campfire while roasting marshmallows. There will also be hot mulled wine in the Lawn House Garden for purchase, and the Coffee Hut will be offering hot coffee and cocoa, and supplies to make s'mores to enhance your marshmallow roasting experience.
Food provided daily by Divine Fresh Foods serving Gyros, Kabobs, Soups and Salads and Baklava!

"Alice and Friends at the Holidays", a display of gourd figures of Alice in Wonderland characters from the original book.
After December 25 when Santa will have departed back to the North Pole, we will have a rotating International Program of Puppet Productions in the Ecke Building.

- Dec. 26 "Harambee", an African folktale in honor of Kwanza about family working together.
- Dec. 27 and 28 "Little Blue and the Trees" from Europe on friendship about birds and why trees lose their leaves in winter.
- Dec. 29 and 30 “The Emperor's Choice”: an Asian folktale about seeds and the value of honesty (includes the appearance of large "Gourdeous" green /gold dragon).
