Great Backyard Bird Count at San Elijo Lagoon

GREAT BACKYARD BIRD COUNT

San Elijo Lagoon Nature Center

During a four-day weekend, birders from more than 100 countries will count the birds they see in their neighborhoods. This gives us one global snapshot of bird observations that helps us understand both local and global trends in bird abundance.

Come by anytime. Pick up a count sheet and hit the trail. Conservancy docents and county rangers will be available to point out birds, help with identification and answer questions.

Guided tours of San Elijo Lagoon's loop trail are always conducted Saturdays at 10 am. This is a great way to observe life between the tides with many birding opportunities in salt marsh, mudflat and ripariant habitats you'll encounter.
