Locals, Tourists Treated to Great Finds at Hansen Surfboards Annual Back to School, Summer Clearance Sale

It’s
become an annual ritual for locals needing to shore up their summer wardrobe
and surf accessories, and a great surprise for tourists who stumble upon it.
Every year, at the end of August, Hansen
Surfboards gathers up its summer merchandise and puts on a huge sale to
make room for back to school and snow gear. This year’s “End of Summer Sale”
starts Saturday, Aug. 17 and runs through Sunday, Aug. 25 at 1105 S. Coast Hwy
101 in Encinitas, Calif. and includes shorts, shirts, shoes, sandals, swimwear,
surfboards, bodyboards, wetsuits and accessories by top brands.

“This
is the perfect time to stop by and get it all done in one spot,” said Josh
Hansen. “When we first opened this store more than 50 years ago, the goal was
always to make it family centered. Our customers come first, and with their
input, we make sure to carry the items they want, including big brands like Quiksilver,
Hurley, Roxy, Volcom, O’Neill, Billabong and others. If it’s not out in the
parking lot on sale, or in the store, it’s probably on our website.”

Held
in the parking lot, the sale features 30 to 50 percent off men’s, ladies and
kid’s swimwear and sportswear, $50 to $100 off select surfboards, and up to 30
percent off wetsuits, rashguards, bodyboards and other items. Select shoes,
sandals and backpacks are priced at 30 to 50 percent off.

Hansen
is also quick to point out that the store now features a dedicated retail space
for Rip Curl located on the store property, just south of the main store.
Called Rip Curl by Hansen’s, the space features bikinis, boardshorts, wetsuits
and accessories.

What
started as a small shop in 1961 has grown into San Diego’s largest surf shop spanning
more than 16,000 square feet with a dedicated boardroom featuring hundreds of
surfboards, surf accessories
and experts to advise shoppers on the best surfboard for every ability. There’s
also a sandal room featuring more than 6,000 pairs of shoes. The main store
carries a variety of clothing for women and men, a t-shirt
wall, an area featuring more contemporary surf clothes for all ages, and a
dedicated area of the store for children’s clothing
and accessories. Home décor, gifts, and backpacks are also available.
