SEAESCAPE

On December 13, Bloom Natural Health will host SEAESCAPE, a benefit
event supporting the Seahorse
Hawaii Foundation
's (501
(c) 3) efforts to raise awareness and educate people of the impending
seahorse extinction and its direct relationship to the  health of our coral reefs and oceans. The
event will support the Foundation’s mission to maintain a living gene bank of
all 36 species of seahorses for breeding, display, and release back to their
protected natural habitat.

Without any support, seahorses will become completely
extinct, signaling the collapse of the ocean’s delicate ecosystem. Living coral
reefs are expected to be a thing of the past in the next 50 years. To make
matters worse, seahorses are being harvested by collectors that sell them for
profit both dead and alive (for tonics) – without any thought to the
consequences.

SEAESCAPE attendees will have the opportunity to adopt a pair of
seahorses, which the Seahorse Hawaii Foundation will release into marine
protected reserves in Tavarua, Fiji (Cloudbreak reef) and Tonga in May 2014.
The release will be broadcasted in coordination with the Fiji Volcom Pro World
Surf Tour. This program is a part of the Foundation's efforts to
revive areas of the natural reefs that have already been damaged and native
species have been removed by collectors.
