Encinitas Rotary Club Gives Back to Community

The Encinitas Rotary and San Dieguito Academy Rotary Interact Club will be beautifying the community this weekend.

On Saturday, April 26, Rotarians everywhere will demonstrate ‘Service Above Self.’

Encinitas Club Rotarians, along with San Dieguito Academy Rotary Interact Club students, will be building raised bed planter boxes at the new Community Gardens on Quail Gardens Drive. Across the road at the Heritage Museum, other Rotarians will be laying pavers, adding to the Historical Pathway.

Rotarian Doug Long, the Rotarian in charge, will be everywhere, making sure that all is done correctly. ‘Service above Self’ could be Long’s middle name.  For over 40 years, Doug Long has been giving back to more groups and projects than he can count. Name a worthwhile local project from 1970’s on, and Long was there helping.

Ask Doug why?  “I love Encinitas and any way that I can help make it a better place to live, I’ll be there helping.  That’s just what we all should do.”

On May 17th, at the Annual Deep Pit BBQ at San Dieguito Heritage Museum, Doug Long will receive their Living Heritage Award.
