North Coast Singers (NCS), a non-profit 120-member youth chorus known throughout San Diego County
for its vitality and spirit, is having its spring concert, Soundscape.
The concert series is open to the public and takes place on May 11 12 at 7 p.m. at the San Dieguito United Methodist Church. Cost is $12 for adults and $5 for students and NCS alumni.
Friday’s concert will feature the advanced choirs, Caprice and Capella. A wide variety of music will be performed including music of Henry Purcell, Pablo Casals, and Stephen Hatfield, as well as the early English round Sumer is a Cumin In (recently performed by NCS in Benjamin Britten’s Spring Symphony concert with the La Jolla Symphony
and Chorus. Also to be heard are folk song arrangements from the U.S., Canada, Georgia Sea Islands, and Ireland. On Saturday’s concert the youngest members of the chorus will sing Rainbow Connection from the Muppet Movie and E Nana Kakou, a Hawaiian song evoking native birdcalls.
