Cardiff Kook Run Organizers Give $10K to Community

The money went to Cardiff Elementary School and Cardiff 101 Main Street.

As a token of appreciation, organizers of the gave $10 thousand dollars back to the community Wednesday afternoon.

Race founder Steve Lebherz, and race directors Seth Brewer and Bo Lebherz, awarded $2 thousand dollars to  for its PE program. They also donated $8 thousand dollars to the so it can establish the Cardiff Kook Foundation, which will pay for the upkeep of the statue that inspired the race. First on the priority list will be repairing some of the cement in front of the statue, and remedying some of the rust damage on the surrounding railing.

“It’s our pleasure to give back to the community and only possible because so many people supported it,” said Lebherz of the race, which managed to draw more than 2,000 participants in its inaugural year. “We’d like to thank everyone who was a part of the Cardiff Kook Run, and we look forward to doing it again next year and giving even more.”
