San Dieguito High School Academy Senior Wins $1,000 Grant

Emily Ross is using the money to create and ship 18 care packages for the military through the group Care Packages for Home.

Emily Ross age 17, a Senior at San Dieguito High School Academy recently won a $1,000 grant from Nestle's Very Best in Youth Foundation. This check was donated to the group Care Packages from Home which creates care packages for the military.

Emily has been a volunteer with this group for several years and she collected 650 letters and 1250 magazines to be donated to this group as part of her Girl Scout Gold Award.

 Emily applied for this grant 6 months ago. With this grant Emily will be able to create and ship 18 care packages.

Care Packages from Home is a non-profit started in 2007 a group of military veterans from the La Costa Glen Retirement Community in Carlsbad. More information can be found at: http://www.carepackagesfromhome.org
