Singing Priest Says Hallelujuah to Irish Couple; Is Wedding Mass For Celebrating With Song?

See the priest blow away newlyweds — and the congregation.

By Todd Richissin

When Father Ray Kelly surprised a wedding couple with a unique rendition of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah," it was the priest who was eventually blown away — by more than 31 million views of his performance on Youtube.

Which raises a question as Christians prepare to celebrate Easter Sunday:

  • Was the priest's performance a fitting gift to the surprised couple and appropriate for a wedding celebration? Or should churches be more subdued places reserved for contemplation? Tell us in comments below.
