Video: Stringing Lights on Encinitas' Tallest Christmas Tree

The San Diego Reader captured a video of men in a crane getting the lights put up on what is probably the tallest living Christmas tree in the area.

On December 2 Encinitas local Louie Ortiz with his volunteer crew, Bob Joval and Surfer Mike, came together, as Louie has for the past 19 years, to string the lights on the city’s tallest living Christmas tree, reported the San Diego Reader

Located on the corner of C and 4th Streets the pine tree is just under 100 feet tall and planted in 1942.

The Downtown Encinitas Mainstreet Association pays the $300 electric bill each year for the tree to be lit, wrote the San Diego Reader who added, "The tree has its own address — 406 4th Street — because, years ago, the group had to install a separate meter for the tree."
