Cardiff 101 Main Street Announces Spring Fling

The free event will be held Saturday, May 5.

Editor’s Note: The following news release is from Cardiff 101 Main Street.

Cardiff 101 Main Street invites you to celebrate spring and sustainable gardening practices by attending Spring Fling, a free, informative event on Saturday, May 5th from 9am-1pm. The mission of Carpentier Parkway is to promote our public, organic, sustainable, water wise, floral park in downtown Cardiff-by-the-Sea.

What was once a vacant lot paralleling the railroad train tracks between Birmingham Drive and Chesterfield Drive has been transformed by beautiful sustainable landscaping and a trail for all to enjoy. Carpentier Parkway has been featured in San Diego Home/Garden Lifestyles, Sunset Magazine’s Fresh Dirt blog and numerous local newspapers, and it serves as a remarkable example of what can be done with a unoccupied dirt lot to improve and beautify a downtown area.

Come support this community effort by attending the annual Spring Fling on Saturday, May 5th. Emmy-award winning garden-writer, author of books including Pat Welsh’s Southern California Gardening: A Month-by-Month Guide, TV performer, and professional artist, Pat Welsh will be speaking at Spring Fling from 11-1230pm! Find out more about Pat here. Bucket Ruckus, Steve Brown & Cardiff Students and Devine School of Guitar will be performing throughout the day as well. This year look for an all new Kid’s Zone with a seed toss and interactive games. Easels will be set up throughout the park with original pieces of local art that will be available for purchase. Also make sure to buy a raffle ticket to be entered to win some fabulous prizes!

Spring Fling is the perfect time to become part of history and sponsor a brick or paver at Carpentier Parkway’s Inspirational Terrace for Cardiff’s Centennial Celebration. Sponsor a brick for just $65 or a flagstone paver from $180. For more details are online.
