Blog: Tea Party Republicans and Christian Democrats

What ever happened to Christians in the Democratic Party? Don’t all Christians curse the un-godly way the Tea Party thinks of 47 percent of us?

What ever happened to Christians in the Democratic Party?

Did the Tea Party run off with all the Christians? There are whole parties of Christian Democrats in other countries. Here, you don’t hear a peep. Are Democratic Christians embarrassed by their Republican brethren? I know they watch different news shows, do they go to different churches?

Don’t all Christians curse the un-godly way the Tea Party thinks of 47 percent of us?

Personally, I have friends who are both Christians and Democrats. Some things we don’t discuss, but we share our political thoughts. We agree that wars are bad and expensive, that global warming can destroy the planet, that science is not sinful, that government should help and protect us.

We’re not sure where we should drill for oil and frack for gas, but we’re damn sure we shouldn’t do either in Mission Hills. And, we thank God, so-to-speak, for bio diversity coming to San Diego, even though Obama helped.

We also agree that women should get paid the same for the same job, and have reproductive control over their own bodies. (We do argue some about the reproductive part.)

We pretty much agree that movie stars are not real stars, airlines should be more generous with legroom; and religion is the antithesis of reason. (We head-butt occasionally about what’s reasonable.)

Tea Party Christians never discuss that stuff. They have all the answers and they make up the questions just to prove it. They may talk to non-Christians at Tea Party rallies, but they never invite them home. And God forbid they should ever compromise!

Did you know that Tea is a narcotic?

The public deserves an objective, unemotional, factual public debate on this proposition. So far IRead More am still leaning toward a yes vote, but I am keeping an open mind at least through this month.

Batman, I guess that once again your logic is too sophisticated for me. if I understand you, in theRead More interest of freedom and and democracy, a woman has to accept a subordinate role so she can be protected by the dominate male. It sounds so much like the justification for slavery. The lucky slave protected,, fed and housed by his benevolent owner. And all he has to do is obey. If it wasn't for those subversive Marxists, women would be so satisfied with their lot in life.

Yeah, the educated way is to jam as many words in the bag as possible, just like the term paper orRead More doctoral thesis. Being the less than educated lazy *** that I am I like to jam as much meaning into as few words as possible. The "new jacket method" is just one of many in the Marxist Book of Dirty Tricks, but they like use it often. And women's lib is not the only place you see it employed. In another post we had sick puppy Frank Robles trying to convince us to throw away our cars and freeway system, which can take us anywhere we want to go anytime of the day or night, and replace with the trolly system, which limits us to go only where it goes and only during certain hours of the day. In all of history only about 2% of humanity has lived in real freedom and democracy, the other 98% have lived under some form of tyranny. When you have something that valuable there will always be somebody trying to steal it from you.

Yes, I am jealous of your more compact style in calling a spade - a spade. Certainly not perfectionRead More in treatment of women, America has better processes and accommodations to correct oversights or abridged rights of citizens. I could delineate in a thinking way, motivations of 'Jac's fomented liberalism but I think, many see the canards of his rhetoric... aligned to many these days of our Mortal Storm beset America. Sometimes, it is not what is said, but what has not been said - that makes difference.

Well said, Nama. I was speechless to see how many people Uncle Ben had influenced during his life,Read More but it's no wonder. There may be one less Ben Taylor in our lives, but Heaven just got a whole lot more fun!

Thanks, Kyle for posting this. I'm not sure how things were in the past, but as a Patch editor, I'veRead More seen that blogging and engaging readers directly is a great way to market a book. Steve Repak, a financial planner with a military-themed personal finance book, blogs regularly on Patch and has recently been featured in National Media.
