Your House Is a Mess

The U.S. House of Representatives refused to consider the Senate's bill to fund infrastructure, and proposed instead a bill they knew no one would be able to stomach. They are making a mess of things.

It’s called the House of Representatives, but what it represents is a crumbling, dysfunctional eyesore in the political community. Some good people who used to be there are off sunning themselves, living off their inheritance and retirement incomes. They were forced out by—oh, the derogatory terms I could use—rich people who like tea. If the new guys aren’t rich, they plan to be, that’s why they’re there.

The current House members won’t even consider the Senate’s bill to fund infrastructure—the Senate reached bi-partisan agreement!—including funding for mass transit. After all, who needs mass transit when you drive a Rolls? It’s their way or the highway—if there is a decent highway left going in their direction. They want out of public education. It didn’t do much good for them. They hate collective barganing. That’s obvious. They want California to be a “Right To Work” state. You gotta give ‘em credit, they sure can turn a phrase. Most of all, they want to eliminate Social Security. Of course, if you don’t have healthcare, you may not need Social Security.

We sure do have a Housing crisis.
