Magic is Brewing at Alchemy San Diego Restaurant
Alchemy San Diego Restaurant in South Park serves up delicious cultural fare, runs a school children's culinary program, supports artists and is participating in the Form & Function Benefit Art Show.
From sensational brews to sustainable practices to community outreach programs, Alchemy is a very special place. I love their concept of fusion on overdrive and how they use local fresh produce and meats whenever possible. Aptly referred to as “cultural fare,” Alchemy prepares an interesting delicious mix of ethnic dishes such as Asian, Latin, American and more! The focus on small plates is also fun because it’s an opportunity to share and sample a variety of culinary delights. The savory Squash Blossoms stuffed to the brim with herbed ricotta cheese and summer corn were incredible. I also enjoyed the inventive Black Quinoa Hush Puppies with house made ketchup.
Altruistic owners Ron Troyano and Matt Thomas run a culinary program for elementary school children. The program ends with the kids preparing and serving their teachers a meal at the restaurant.
Ron and Matt also support artists by running rotating exhibits every six weeks. Amazingly, all but 10% of sales go to the artist.
