Downtown Farmers Market Launching Mid-April

The opening had been slated for this week, but was pushed back.

Editor's Note: The Downtown Encinitas MainStreet Association (DEMA) released the following announcement Tuesday, March 13.

The Encinitas Certified Farmers’ Market is now scheduled to open mid-April. The market was originally scheduled to open March 14th, 2012.

The market will be comprised of nearly 40 vendors selling local farm fresh produce and specialty items such as cheeses, meats, gelato, and artisan breads. This sustainable market will be free of single use plastic bags to encourage customers to bring their own reusable bags.

Downtown Encinitas MainStreet Association (DEMA) has partnered with Whole Foods Market, who will be providing bags for the first 200 customers in the market’s initial months. DEMA has also partnered with the North County Transit District, so visitors should look for the special Coaster fares and incentives for those walking and biking.

This will be Encinitas’ second farmers market. This market was designed to be a compliment to the Sunday Farmer’s Market coordinated by DEMA’s sister organization the Leucadia MainStreet. The Leucadia Market is held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Paul Ecke Elementary on Union Street.
