Encinitas Woman Named Development Director for LightBridge Hospice Community Foundation

She brings more than 20 years of experience to the table.

Encinitas resident Abby Murphy has been named the LightBridge Hospice Community Foundation (LBHCF) Development Director.

In her new role, she’ll help raise funds for the organization’s programs that enhance the end-of-life journey for patients and their families throughout San Diego County.

 “On behalf of our staff and Board of Directors, I am delighted to officially welcome Abby Murphy to the LightBridge family,” said LightBright founder and president Jill Mendlen in a news release. “We look forward to utilizing her strong leadership and communication skills to enhance the vital work we do with the foundation.”

Murphy has more than 20 years of experience in fundraising and marketing within donor-centric environments. Prior to joining LBHCF, Murphy held various positions within the Arthritis Foundation’s New England region, most recently as its vice president of philanthropy. She’s also a former development officer for Boston University’s School of Medicine.

Murphy has been trained in the Raising More Money® model for annual gifts as well as the Estes Associates Planned Giving program and is a certified ESL tutor. She volunteers with the Haitian Health Foundation by assisting U.S. physicians in delivering services to rural and urban clinics. She is a University of New Hampshire graduate, with a bachelor’s degree in communications disorders.
