From July 12-15, 2012, six award-winning young international instrumental soloists will present four special-event concerts at the Encinitas Library, Thursday—Saturday, July 12—14, 7:30pm, and Sunday, July 15, 2:00pm. “Bringing the iPalpiti Music Festival of International Laureates to Encinitas has been in the works for over a year and is in partnership with the City ofEncinitas, Commission for the Arts, Friends of the Encinitas Library, and Downtown Encinitas MainStreet Assoc. (DEMA),” saidJim Gilliam, Encinitas Arts Administrator.

iPalpiti Artists International was established in 1997 to advance the careers of young, professional, talented classical musicians and promote peace and understanding through music. The organization present awards and scholarships to young rising stars in classical music and has presented more than 400 concerts worldwide. iPalpiti means “heartbeat” in Italian. “It symbolizes the important role music has in the hearts of all people,” said Laura Schmieder, iPalpiti Director. Each year, it hosts a two week festival inLos Angelesbringing together more than 30 musicians from around the world. In 2012 the festival was expanded to three weeks with one week in Encinitas.

“In 2010 the City joined the Consortium of Southern California Chamber Music Presenters where I met Laura Schmieder,” said Gilliam. “She and her husband Eduard had long wanted to expand the iPalpiti festival to 3 weeks. We approached the Commission for the Arts who enthusiastically voted yes. This past year we featured 2 iPalpiti artists in concert, the audience response was phenomenal. We hope the festival will have the same level of success,” said Gilliam.

iPalpiti soloists in Encinitas will feature: Catharina Chen, violin, Norway;  Marie Radauer-Plank, violin, Austria;  Kian Soltani, cello, Iran; Maron Anis Khoury, flute, Israel; Svetlana Smolina, piano, Russia; and Victor de Almeida, viola, Australia. “Maron is the youngest member of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra,” said Ms. Schmieder,  “just as each soloist is a foremost artist in their respective countries.” For complete biographies on the musicians, visit www.iPalpiti.org.

Each soloist has won prestigious international music competitions and was selected to participate in the 15th annual festival. The new collaboration with iPalpiti Artists international will present this exceptional world-talent to Encinitas audiences prior to the LA festival in late July. “To witness an iPalpiti festival is to glimpse the future of classical music,” said Gilliam.

The artists will arrive on July 11 and present their first concert the next day. All rehearsals are scheduled at the Encinitas Library. iPalpiti Music Director Eduard Schmieder will mentor the musicians for their Encinitas performances. “The opportunity to experience Downtown Encinitas for five days will be a blast for the soloists, while hearing them in concert will be a thrill for Encinitas audiences,” said Dody Crawford, DEMA Executive Director. The musicians will stay at the McNeill Guest House, one block south of the library, and dine in downtown restaurants.

Attendees will enjoy a pre-concert reception on the patio overlooking thePacific Ocean, hosted by four downtown restaurants and businesses. Thursday: D Street Bar & Grill, Friday: Vigilucci’s Trattoria, Saturday: DEMA, Sunday: Whole Foods Market.
