  • Name:  Sausage
  • Type of animal:  Dog. Kind of "roundish."
  • Age: 4 years
  • Weight: 11 pounds (That's why his name is "Sausage")
  • Gender: Neutered, male
  • Breed: Chihuahua mix

If you're hungry for real love, treat yourself to Sausage. This Chihuahua mix tips in at 11 pounds, and every ounce of that is good-natured.

One volunteer at Rancho Coastal Humane Society recently kept him at her home for a night and said Sausage is a perfect gentleman. He didn't beg, he napped on the floor next to the couch, and walked well on his leash.

Care providers also describe Sausage as, "A delicious treat, bursting with yummy goodness." That's a pretty accurate description. Sausage could use a few more walks and a few less treats, but he's a genuinely sweet dog ready to feast on all the love you can give him.

The $125 adoption fee for Sausage includes medical exam, neuter, up to date vaccinations, and microchip identification.

is located at 389 Requeza St. in Encinitas. The hours of operation are from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., except on Tuesday, when the shelter opens at 11:30 a.m.
