Video: Watch the New Encinitas Rail Bridge Go Up in One Minute

Last week crews finished the job in 51 hours. But thanks to a time-lapse video you can watch their work in less than a minute.

With all that construction lately near Santa Fe Drive and Coast Highway 101, it may feel like crews are inching along to build . But there’s a new time-lapse video that shows just how much progress has been made—and in pretty good time, too.

Last weekend crews erected a new rail bridge in 51 hours, though you can watch it condensed down to about a minute of action. Crews worked around the clock from midnight Friday until 3 a.m. Monday to finish the job on time.

Besides a rail bridge and an undercrossing, the project includes a new crosswalk and traffic signal on Highway 101. The project should be finished by early next year, and the goal is to make it safer for people to reach Swamis Beach.
