The Republican Party has a major problem as I see it. Now, as a Democrat it doesn't bother me if the opposing party has a problem. Since I believe in the two party system, however, that problem must be fixed, or we'll end up with a one party system, which is not good.
The problem is that the Tea Party portion of the Republican Party has too much influence and power, and furthermore their views are not representative of the majority of the country. Let's be clear: in order to get the nomination for President of the United States for the Republican Party, one must show strong ultra conservative views and history. However, in order to win the Presidency, on must show that one is "middle of the road".
The problem is exacerbated due to the power the Tea Party has within the Republican party's ranks, and their erroneous view that the majority of the country sees things as do they. They're wrong! Most of the country is in the middle of the road and resents the influence the Tea party has exerted on the rest of the Republican Party. In fact they're saying that they must advertise more and get the word out to more voters so they can win next time.
I've got some news for them; if they do that, they will turn off the vast majority of voters who frankly resent the fact that the ultra religious right is controlling the Republican Party. That means they must vote for the Democratic Party or for an Independent Party candidate, and an Independent will not win the election.
Frankly I don't know how they're going to fix this, but for the moment I am going to luxuriate in the problems I see in the major opposition Party. After all, it's not up to me to fix their problem.
