Apparent Gas Explosion Destroys Encinitas McDonald's

Gas Explosion Destroys McDonald's, Nobody Injured

An apparent gas leak caused an explosion to occur at McDonald's  at the intersection of Encinitas Boulevard and El Camino Real at approximately 8:30 p.m.

Employees noticed the smell of gas just before 8:30, and quickly evacuated the building before the building exploded.

A fire marshall I spoke to said that all workers were able to make it out safely and there were no reported injuries due to the explosion.

Luckily, first-responders from the Encinitas, Rancho Sante Fe, Carlsbad, and Vista fire departments were there to help contain the fire.

No information yet concerning the reason for the gas leak.
