Boy Scouts from Troop 777 to Host Pancake Breakfast

Come support the Boy Scouts of America by attending Troop 777's annual Pancake Breakfast, that benefits the scouts and community in multiple ways!

During the past few weeks, you might of seen Boy Scouts from Troop 777 flipping pancakes outside grocery stores raising money to “Earn Their Way to Camp”. Scouts were selling tickets in preparation for Troop 777’s 2nd annual pancake breakfast that will take place this Sunday from 7:30 to noon at the Elk’s Lodge on Windsor.

Not only does each pancake breakfast ticket that is sold goes to help the scouts, a portion will be donated the Saint Andrews Pantry, which is dedicated to feeding the less-fortunate in our community. Both Joell Trotta and Brum Darling are two active scout leaders who are helping coordinate the breakfast.

“In addition to helping pay for treks and summer camps, scouts are able to build confidence when they are out in the community in their uniform” Darling said.

“Those who come can enjoy a delicious breakfast consisting of pancakes, sausage, eggs, fresh fruit, and coffee in addition to a mini talent show hosted by the boys,” Trotta said. “People who attend are supporting every aspect of scouting for the individual scout. It’s something as simple to purchasing their uniform to funding their Eagle Scout Project. This year, we will have two scouts finishing their eagle projects that were funded entirely by their site sales. By participating in the breakfast, residents are actually benefitting the community in multiple ways.”

Not only does it help scouting support the community, boys can learn important life lessons working together.

“Since the breakfast will be ran by the scouts, they have an incredible opportunity to learn valuable leadership skills," Darling explained. "At the event itself, some scouts will be asked to be a kitchen manager to lead the scouts during the service. Having the ability to learn these skills empowers the scouts to feel proud of their accomplishments.”

Darling believes that this event will play an even more important roll in the community. “Having an event like this helps to reinforce that scouts are still here, still doing good things, and that the Boy Scouts of America is still a good program to get involved in.”

This year, Captain Keno will be graciously donating the food necessary to make this pancake breakfast possible. “He really believes in the program of scouting and has been kind enough to help us out this year,” Trotta said.

To support Troop 777’s effort in sending scouts to camp, you can show up and purchase tickets for five dollars at the door of the Elks Lodge on Windsor anytime from 7:30 am to noon on Sunday.  “We’d love to have people come there, sit down at a table with scouts and adult leaders, and learn more about what were doing.”
