Photos: Calle Acervo Traffic Collision

Carlsbad Police and Encinitas Fire Engine 2314 respond to a traffic collision at the intersection of Calle Acervo and S Rancho Sante Fe Drive Saturday evening.

Carlsbad Police closed part of the intersection of Calle Acervo and South Rancho Sante Fe Road after a two car collision occurred shortly after 7 p.m. Saturday evening.

The crash involved a young person driving a Volvo sedan and an elderly woman driving a Ford Edge, according to authorities.

When the driver of the Edge was rightfully making a left turn from S Rancho Santa Fe Road onto Calle Acervo, she was struck by the Volvo running through a red light.

The driver of the Volvo reported that he wasn't paying attention and was not aware at the time he was running a red light.

Encinitas Fire Engine 2314 arrived minutes after the crash to ensure nobody was hurt and help clean up debris on the road.

Nobody was injured as a result of the crash.
