A family of five is left homeless Tuesday morning after an early morning fire tore through their house. Firefighters from Encinitas, Carlsbad, and Rancho Santa Fe responded to the second alarm blaze that had engulfed the structure in the 2100 block of Tennis Match Way.
Heavy smoke and flames were visible upon crews’ arrival. Encinitas Assistant Fire Chief Mike Daigle told me that everybody was ok and made it out of the structure unharmed after the fire started this morning around 6:30 am. The family had one pit-bull and a poodle that made it out ok.
The homeowner I talked to in the video told me she first smelled smoke and then alerted her parents who called 911. The fire reportedly started near the chimney area and spread to the attic. Sheriff fire investigators are on scene and will be determining the cause of the fire.
