A fireworks explosion Wednesday afternoon in Encinitas caused three teenagers to sustain serious injuries to the face, arms and legs.
The children— two 15-year-olds and a 17-year-old—had been lighting fireworks on the 700 block of Bonita drive, according to San Diego Sherriff’s deputy Todd Norton.
The teenagers were airlifted to area hospitals, he added.
