73-Year-Old Man Dies When Car Runs Off Road
The driver was taken to Scripps La Jolla Hospital, but later died.
An unidentified 73-year-old man died late Tuesday morning when his car ran off an exit ramp from Interstate 5 and crashed into a ravine.
Sheriff's Deputies said the vehicle was southbound on Interstate 5 and exited on Birmingham Drive. The car went through the intersection and crashed into a ravine.
Fire Department and Sheriff's personnel arrived and extracated the driver from the vehicle. Life saving measures were conducted and the man was transported to Scripps La Jolla Hospital, but later succumbed to his injuries.
Positive identification of the body, notification of the family and cause and manner of death will be determined by the Medical Examiner's Office.
