For the third time in less than a month, deputies from the Encinitas Sheriff’s Station responded to a burglar alarm at an elementary school and found a storage cabinet broken into and computers missing.
An alarm at Skyline Elementary School in Solana Beach was activated around 11:44 p.m. Friday night, and school security notified deputies of a broken window in one of the classrooms, according to Sgt. Joe Passalacqua. The locks on two storage cabinets were broken off and 24 Apple laptop computers were missing. The loss was estimated at $36,000, according to Passalacqua.
The school was searched but no suspects were found.
Two elementary schools in Encinitas were burglarized in late December and had iPads stolen from locked cabinets. Cardiff Elementary was broken into just after midnight on Dec. 30, and Ada Harris Elementary was targeted the next day. Each school had 12 iPads stolen from a classroom.
