Encinitas One of Seven Cities in Warrant Sweep; 27 Arrested

Authorities were seeking those wanted for arrest on suspicion of drunken driving or domestic violence.

Sheriff's deputies arrested 27 people with outstanding warrants stemming from drunken driving or domestic violence offenses during a sweep in North County and South Bay cities Saturday, a sheriff's sergeant said.

Starting at 6 a.m., deputies fanned out across Oceanside, Encinitas, Vista, San Marcos, National City, Chula Vista and Imperial Beach in search of those with outstanding misdemeanor or felony warrants, sheriff's Sgt. Bill Munsch said.

One of those arrested was a woman also suspected of felony methamphetamine possession, according to Munsch.

The operation was funded by assessment fees collected from those who have violated a written promise to appear in court or otherwise failed to comply with the conditions of their court orders, Munsch said.
