A motorcycle rider was killed Sunday and another driver was injured in a two-vehicle crash on South Coast Highway 101 in Encinitas, sheriff's officials said.
The crash was reported at 12:26 p.m. at the intersection of South Coast Highway 101 and K Street, according to sheriff's Lt. Kelly Martinez.
The cause of the crash, which involved a motorcycle and Toyota Camry, remained under investigation, she said.
The motorcycle rider was killed, Martinez said. His name was not immediately released.
The Toyota's driver and sole occupant was taken to Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas with non-life-threatening injuries he sustained in the crash, Martinez said.
South Coast Highway 101 was closed from W Street to the intersection with K Street, and was expected to reopen about 6 p.m., she said.
