It took crews about 10 minutes today to extinguish a fire that damaged an attached garage at a coastal North County duplex.
The non-injury blaze in the 600 block of Hygeia Avenue in Leucadia was reported shortly after 2:30 p.m., said Deputy Chief Mike Daigle of the Encinitas Fire Department.
Firefighters were able to keep the flames from spreading into the living quarters of the structure, he said.

The sheriff's Bomb/Arson Unit was called in to determine what sparked the fire, as is routine in cities that contract with the county law enforcement agency, according to Daigle.
