Man With Gunshot Wounds Changes Story About How He Got Shot

After saying he was shot by someone in Solana Beach, he said it was an accident.

A man who walked into Saturday night with gunshot wounds to his leg and groin areas told Sheriff's deputies that he was shot by an unknown Hispanic male in Solana Beach, but later changed his story, saying that he had accidentally shot himself while pulling his gun from his waistband, according to the Sheriff's Department.

“Apparently the story wasn't consistent with what they were seeing or hearing,” said Lt. Jim Walker.

Deputies have not recovered the gun and the man was not engaging any more information, Walker said, and it wasn't clear how many times the man was shot. The Sheriff's Department is continuing the investigation.
