A 32-year-old man was severely injured in a solo motorcycle accident Friday evening near Encinitas Ranch Golf Course, authorities said.
At around 5:50 p.m. when sheriff deputies arrived at the 1000 block of Quails Garden Drive, they found the victim lying on the road with serious injuries, according to a sheriff’s press release. The preliminary investigation indicated that the victim was thrown off his motorcycle after striking the center island curb and colliding with a tree, the release said.
The victim was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to the release. It is unclear if alcohol or drugs were involved in the accident, but authorities believe that speed may have been a factor.
The case is still under investigation by deputies from the Sheriff Encinitas Station Traffic Unit. Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or who has other pertinent information is asked to contact the Encinitas Station at (760) 966-3500.
