North County Man to Face Multiple Sex-Abuse Charges

Daniel Roger Hood is accused of molesting a girl in Temecula and Oceanside.

A man accused of molesting a girl he knew over a two-year period must stand trial on multiple sex-abuse charges, a judge ruled Wednesday.

Daniel Roger Hood, 42, allegedly committed the acts in Temecula and Oceanside between 2009 and 2011, Deputy District Attorney Keith Watanabe said.

The defendant faces up to 116 years to life in prison if convicted.

According to evidence presented at a preliminary hearing, the defendant left his cell phone at his cousin's home in Norco, and the cousin looked at it.

The cousin viewed a video showing Hood sexually assaulting the victim and called police, Watanabe said.

The girl, now 10, disclosed the continued abuse at the hands of Hood during an interview, according to the prosecutor.

Following the preliminary hearing, Vista Judge Robert Kearney found that enough evidence was presented for Hood to stand trial on multiple counts of sex with a child under 10 and lewd acts on a child.

A Superior Court arraignment was scheduled for Oct. 2.

The public deserves an objective, unemotional, factual public debate on this proposition. So far IRead More am still leaning toward a yes vote, but I am keeping an open mind at least through this month.
