On September 13, 2013, the San Diego Sheriff's Department's Court Services Bureau-Field Division conducted a warrant sweep in the North County region. The sweep was conducted in conjunction with officers from the San Diego County Probation Department. The areas affected by the sweep included the cities of Vista, Oceanside, Carlsbad, Escondido, and Poway and the unicorporated communities of Fallbrook and Valley Center. The focus of the operation was on the apprehension of suspects with outstanding misdemeanor and felony warrants.
A total of 13 adults were arrested on misdemeanor warrants. A total of 15 misdemeanor warrants were cleared. The warrant charges included: driving under the influence, driving on a suspended license, domestic violence, and petty theft. This warrant sweep was funded by the Sheriff's Warrant System Automation Trust Fund. The trust fund is made up of assessment fees collected from people who have violated a written promise to appear in court or otherwise failed to comply with a court order.
The San Diego Sheriff's Department will continue its efforts in the apprehension of wanted subjects. Persons who have outstanding warrants are encouraged to turn themselves in Monday - Friday between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm at any one of the Sheriff's Court Facilities.
