A two-day North County warrant sweep resulted this week in the capture of dozens of dangerous fugitives, the U.S. Marshals Service announced today.

More than 100 federal, state and local law enforcement personnel made the arrests Thursday and this morning, USMS spokesman Errol Watson said.

'The sweep "focused on high-risk felons, such as those wanted for gang affiliation, weapon charges, sex crimes, armed robbery and homicide," Watson said.

Among the 46 suspects apprehended during the crackdown, dubbed "Operation Hide and Seek," were 22-year-old Jordan Jenkins, who is suspected of shooting a man during a Spring Valley robbery; and David Betancourt, 21, who allegedly stole a cash jar from Girl Scouts selling cookies in front of an Escondido supermarket.

"This operation also yielded new information which will be used by law enforcement to prevent and/or deter future criminal activity," Watson said.
