Pedestrian Killed by Train in Encinitas

The pedestrian has not yet been identified by officials.

A white adult male was struck by an Amtrak train along the 1200 block of North Coast Highway in Encinitas on Saturday.

San Diego Sheriff's said deputies from the Encinitas station were called the accident at 6:52 a.m.

The pedestrian died on scene, according to Deputy Ed Macken.

The San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office will determine the cause and manner of death, as well as a positive identification of the pedestrian, the Sheriff's Department said.
