Sheriff's Blotter: Would-Be Orchid Bandit Arrested

Items of note from the Encinitas station of the San Diego County Sheriff's Department as of Dec. 6, 2011.

Unless otherwise noted, suspects were booked into the County Jail in Vista.

  • A 21-year-old man was arrested after deputies were called to investigate a report of a burglary in progress shortly before noon Dec. 3 at Andy's Orchid's, 700 Ocean View Avenue. The man was arrested on South Nardo Avenue in Solana Beach shortly after 1 p.m. according to a report. Plants valued at $60 were reportedly recovered in the case.
  • A 20-year-old woman, 20, was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting at Rite Aid, 400 South Santa Fe Drive, at 4:25 a.m. Dec. 5. Clothing valued at $24 was recovered in the case.
  • Deputies arrested a 22-year-old man on suspicion of drunken driving and hit and run with property damage reported in the 1500 block of Burgundy Road shortly before 7 a.m. Dec. 3. Records show he was arrested on Urania Avenue at 7:35 a.m.
  • A 60-year-old man was arrested on an outstanding warrant after being stopped in the 300 block of Santa Fe Drive at 9:46 p.m. Dec. 3.
  • Moonlight Music, 400 South Coast Highway 101, reported the loss of a guitar valued at $1,400 in a shoplifting incident reported shortly before 6 p.m. Dec. 1. No suspect information was listed.
  • A 46-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving, driving with a license suspended due to a prior DUI and a probation violation in the 1200 block of Summit Avenue shortly before 4 p.m. Nov. 30.
  • Deputies arrested a 37-year-old woman on suspicion of battery in the 300 block of Santa Fe Drive at 8:44 p.m. Nov. 30. A 26-year-old man named as the victim was not injured, according to a report.
  • Idalia Alvarado, 22, was arrested on a felony allegation of ID theft on Crestview Court in San Marcos shortly before 6 p.m. Dec. 1. The alleged offense was committed in the 600 block of North Coast Highway 101. A wallet, credit cards, cash and checkbook with a total value of $550 belonging to a 61-year-old woman was reported as property involved in the case.

  • 1700 block of Eucalyptus Avenue, 8:29 a.m. Nov. 29.
  • 800 block of Santa Fe Drive, 2:26 p.m., Nov. 29.
  • 800 block of Santa Fe Drive, 2:26 p.m. Nov. 29.
  • 100 block of North Coast Highway 101, 8:44 a.m. Nov. 28.

  • 1100 block of Encinitas Boulevard, 8:55 a.m. Nov. 30. Gray SUV valued at $5,000.
  • 1100 block of Encinitas Boulevard, 9:25 a.m. Nov. 30. Silver four door sedan valued at 5,000.
  • 1100 block of Encinitas Boulevard, 10:15 a.m. Nov. 30. Silver truck with a value of $7,500.
  • 700 block of Del Rio Avenue, 2:40 p.m. Nov. 28. Damage estimated at $100.
