Sheriff's Blotter: Senior Citizen Victim of Fraud

Items of note from the Encinitas station of the San Diego County Sheriff's Department as of Nov. 29, 2011.

Unless otherwise noted, suspects were booked into the County Jail in Vista.

  • An 86-year-old man reported an incident of fraud after an unnamed suspect reportedly used his name to obtain two separate money orders valued at nearly $5,000 in the 2200 block of Oxford Avenue shortly after 9 a.m. Nov. 22.
  • Deputies arrested Alan Thomas Buckley, 19, on shortly after 9 p.m. Nov. 26.  Jail records show he was scheduled for a court appearance No. 29 with bail set at $500,000 and faces and additional allegation of committing a felony while on bail or on his own recognizance.
  • A 23-year-old man identified as Cory Mark Wills, 23, was cited on suspicion of defrauding an innkeeper of $950 or less, a misdemeanor, at the Encinitas Cafe, 500 South Coast Highway 101 at 6:40 p.m. Nov. 26. The tab was reported at $33.77. Records show he was then subsequently arrested on a parole violation about an hour later and remains jailed without bail.
  • Ali Moussavi, 56, was arrested on drug allegations after deputies were called to the 1100 block of Cambria Way at 5:20 p.m. Nov. 27. He was booked on felony drug possession, and misdemeanor being under the influence, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • Shoe Boulevard, 100 North El Camino Real, reported the loss of $27 in miscellaneous clothing in a shoplifting incident reported 6:28 p.m. Nov. 28. No suspect information was listed.
  • Target, 1000 North El Camino Real, reported the loss of a cellular phone and food items in a shoplifting incident 9:29 p.m. Nov. 28. No suspect information was reported.
  • Holly Mayeux, 41. was arrested on suspicion of battery in the 3500 block of Jasmine Crest at 9:27 p.m. Nov. 25. The victim was not injured, according to a report.
  • Brandon Hazou, 20, was arrested on suspicion of petty theft from a motor vehicle at 4:41 p.m. Nov. 22 at Neptune and Diana Street after an incident was reported in the 1300 block of North Coast Highway 101 by a 76-year-old woman. A small amount of cash was reportedly recovered.
  • Deputies arrested an unnamed juvenile after being called to investigate a report of a suspicious person in the 200 block of Sierra Ridge Drive shortly after midnight Nov. 21. The suspect was arrested on felony allegations of selling marijuana, possessing marijuana for sale, possession of drug paraphernalia, possessing an open container of alcohol in public and violating curfew. Records show the juvenile was released after being held for more than an hour. At the same address and time, deputies issued a citation to an 18-year-old man identified as Michael Stell on a misdemeanor allegation of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

  • City of Encinitas, North Vulcan Avenue, 8:46 a.m. Nov. 26.
  • 400 block of Sandalwood Court, 3:38 p.m. Nov. 25.
  • 400 Santa Fe Drive, 8:51 Nov. 21.
