Sheriff's Dept. Launches Encinitas Gang and Drug Tip Line

Residents can alert law enforcement anonymously now.

Sheriff's officials announced today the creation of a tip line for residents to phone in reports about drug and gang crime in Encinitas.

Witnesses to those sorts of lawbreaking in the coastal North County city can use the new service to alert law enforcement personnel anonymously, if desired, or can leave contact information for detectives' follow-up, Lt. Kelly Martinez of the Encinitas Sheriff's Station said.

"It was set up because we identified that we didn't have a tip line that would go directly to our narcotic (and) gang investigators," Martinez said.
