Sheriff's Blotter: DUI Arrest Follows Accident Report

From the Encinitas station of the San Diego County Sheriff's Department as of Tuesday, Aug. 9.

  • Deputies arrested a 19-year-old man on suspicion of drunken driving following an accident reported at Lone Jack Road and north Rancho Santa Fe Road shortly before midnight Aug. 5. Raphael Guardarrama was arrested on felony drunken driving causing bodily injury, according to a report.
  • A 20-year-old man was arrested on drug-related allegations after being stopped in the 100 block of west D street shortly after 1 a.m. on Aug. 6. He was booked on suspicion of possessing hypodermics and possessing unlawful paraphernalia, both misdemeanors, and an infraction of possessing less than an ounce of marijuana.
  • Eric Basaldua, 21, was arrested after deputies were called to a report of a suspicious person at Anaconda Lane and Five Crowns Way shortly before 5 a.m. on Aug. 5. He was booked on suspicion of receiving stolen property and possessing controlled substances, both felonies, and possession of controlled substances paraphernalia. Property valued at $375 was recovered, according to a report.
  • An unnamed victim reported a case of indecent exposure in the 400 block of Moonlight Lane on the afternoon of Aug. 4. No suspect information was reported.
  • A 43-year-old man was arrested after a victim reported a battery in the 200 block of Sharp Place on the evening of Aug. 4. Christopher Olson was booked on a misdemeanor. The victim had a minor injury, according to a report.
  • Matthew Pruitt, 23, was arrested on the morning of Aug. 3 following a traffic stop at Encinitas Boulevard and Princehouse Lane on suspicion of driving with a suspended license.
  • A vehicle was reported tampered with in the 1200 block of Blue Sky Drive on the night of Aug. 3. An estimated $1,000 in auto parts were reported stolen.
  • A 29-year-old man was arrested after deputies discovered evidence of a suspected battery in the 1900 block of Park Dale Lane on the night of Aug. 3. The suspect was identified as Benjamin Brown, who was booked on a misdemeanor. The victim had a minor injury, according to a report.
  • Deputies responded to a report of a fight in the 400 block of south Coast  Highway 101 shortly after 2 a.m. on July 23. Two male victims in their 20s sustained minor injuries. Two female victims in their 20s were not hurt. No suspect information was listed.

Vehicle thefts:

  • Budget Truck, 100 Encinitas Boulevard, reported the theft of a white utility truck valued at $10,000 on the afternoon of August 3.

Vehicle burglaries reported: (stolen items valued at $100 - $12,500)

  • 900 block of Lomas Santa Fe Drive on the morning of Aug. 8. 
  • 200 block of Mangano Circle on the afternoon of Aug. 8.
  • 1100 Arcadia Road on the morning of Aug. 5.
  • 1300 block of Encinitas Boulevard on the morning of Aug. 5.
  • 500 block of Encinitas Boulevard on the afternoon of Aug. 4.

Residential, commercial burglaries, grand thefts:  (stolen items valued at up to $3,000)

  • Lawrence Dindial, 46, was arrested at the Smart and Final, 400 Encinitas Boulevard on the afternoon of Aug. 7 on suspicion of felony commercial burglary. An estimated $22 worth of liquor was recovered.
  • Replanet Recycling, 200 north El Camino Real on the morning of Aug. 2.
  • Vandalism (less than $400)
  • 100 block of 3rd Street on the afternoon of Aug. 4.
