Sheriff's Blotter: Man Arrested on Transit Bus Charged with Four Felonies

According to reports at the Encinitas station of the San Diego County Sheriff's Department as of Sept. 20 and San Diego County District Attorney's Office

The man arrested following has been charged with four felonies as a result of the incident, according to the San Diego County District Attorney's Office. Thomas Fox, 35, has been charged with battery, assault with a deadly weapon, resisting arrest and false impersonation, in addition to a misdemeanor of being under the influence of a controlled substance, DA's spokesman Steve Walker said. A summary report at the Encinitas station of the San Diego County Sheriff's Department reports Fox was arrested shortly after 8 p.m. at South Coast Highway 101 at Chesterfield Drive. Two minor injuries were reported in the incident, which allegedly occurred on a North County Transit District bus during a southbound coastal route. The bus was halted for at least 30 minutes following the incident, during which the suspect allegedly struck another passenger, according to sheriff's sergeant, and resisted attempts to take him into custody. Fox is scheduled for a readiness conference in a Superior Courtroom in Vista on Sept. 25, with jury trial scheduled on Sept. 28 at last report.

Other arrests reported. Unless otherwise noted, all suspects were booked into County Jail in Vista. Information is  based on public records on file at the Encinitas station of the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.

  • Deputies arrested Jake McCabe, 21, on suspicion of felony drug possession after they were called to investigate a petty theft report at 1:22 a.m. Sept. 17, at West E Street and Second Street.
  • A 29-year-old woman reported being the victim of a sexual battery in the 500 block of South Coast Highway 101 at 1:21 a.m. Sept. 17.
  • Bradley Kaciewicz, 54, was arrested Sept. 17 shortly after 1 p.m. on suspicion of battery and public drunkenness. The arrest was reported in the 300 block of Orwell Lane.
  • Baron Wirth, 38, was arrested on suspicion of possessing marijuana for sale and drunken driving following a traffic stop shortly before 1 a.m. Sept. 16 at 300 South Coast Highway 101.
  • A juvenile was arrested shortly before 1 p.m. Sept. 16 after deputies were called to investigate a report of someone under the influence of drugs on school grounds at 600 Requeza Street. According to a report, the juvenile was arrested on a felony drug possession allegation and a misdemeanor of being a minor in possession of marijuana on school grounds.
  • Deputies arrested Anna Garcia, 22, on felony drug possession and possession of marijuana following a traffic stop at 4:36 p.m. Sept. 14 in the 100 block of Encinitas Boulevard.
  • Officers took custody of two juveniles on suspicion of being in possession of marijuana and smoking paraphernalia on school grounds at 800 Santa Fe Drive shortly before noon on Sept. 14.
  • Deputies arrested Patrick Coleman, 43, on suspicion of public drunkenness and an outstanding warrant after he was contacted in the 500 block of South Coat Highway 101 shortly before 2 p.m. Sept. 13.
  • Garrett James, 21, was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving and a probation violation following a traffic stop at West B Street at South Coast Highway 101 shortly before 2 a.m. Sept. 13.
  • Deputies arrested a 26-year-old man on five felony allegations after he was stopped on Manchester Avenue at Trabert Ranch Road shortly before 9 a.m. Sept. 12. Drew Martin was arrested shortly after 10 a.m. on suspicion of felony possession of drugs for sale and other drug-related felonies. He also faces misdemeanor allegations involve drugs, resisting arrest, drunken driving and being a felon in possession of a stun gun, according to a report. A victim, whose name was not released, sustained a minor injury in the incident.
  • Kerry Urso, 35, was arrested Sept. 12 shortly before 3 p.m. on suspicion of violating a court order and felony abuse after deputies were called to the 100 block of Sunset Drive on Sept. 12.

  • San Diego Woodie Club, Encinitas Boulevard at North Coast Highway 101, 3:45 p.m., Sept. 12.
  • 200 North El Camino Real at 3:07 p.m. Sept. 13.
